American Sign Language Workshop

Tuesday, August 20 from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Have you ever wanted to learn more about American Sign Language and the world of the deaf and hard of hearing? Local instructor John Smith will help educate our audience. He will take us through the history of ASL and the principles of its sentence structure. He will also conduct exercises using flash cards, team acting, and marker boards. Participants will receive a hand out on finger-spelling and view segments of the PBS special Through Deaf Eyes. The session will conclude with two games popular in the deaf community. Because of the length of the program, refreshments will be provided. Space is limited, so please call the library at 508-760-6219 to pre-register.
