Dennis loves Cape Cod!

Cape Cod History is here...

Dennis the Snowman has decided to learn more about the town he was named for, so he's browsing a copy of Nancy Thacher Reid's well known Dennis, Cape Cod: From Firstcomers to Newcomers 1639-1993. Reid's book is part of our popular Cape Cod Collection that Dennis is getting to know very well.

He also likes searching our digital newspaper archive of the Yarmouth Register and the Barnstable Patriot. Dennis was delighted to have found a photo of his cousin at the Mashpee Commons, which appeared in the Barnstable Patriot on 11/23/2000.

Ancestry update

Remote Access Ending as of Friday, December 31st

Dennis Public Library has been notified by the provider of Ancestry Library Edition that remote access will discontinue at the end of this month.

Ancestry temporarily expanded its service during the COVID-19 shutdowns, so that patrons could search the database from home. After nearly two years, they made the difficult decision to end it. Please enjoy the offering from now until December 31st.

Remember that in-library access to Ancestry is available, and the Cape Cod Genealogical Society can help patrons with genealogical research. Please call the library to arrange an appointment with a CCGS volunteer.

Drop-In Holiday Crafts

Tuesdays in December from 2:00-7:00

Come in and have fun making holiday crafts. Supplies are limited, so arrive early. Crafts are appropriate for ages 8 and up.

The crafts for each week (starting December 7th) are listed in order: paint a wooden snowman or gingerbread man ornament, decorate a gnome ornament, create an air-dry clay ornament, and make a New Year’s noisemaking cracker.

Dennis the Snowman visits DPL

Let's make a puzzle!

Dennis the Snowman has been our patron for a few years now. Although he's a snowbird who heads to the North Pole in the summertime, he's glad to be back. Dennis invites you to make a puzzle with him.

Dennis Public Library also has puzzles that patrons may borrow and make at home. Come check out our collection.
