The Dennis Libraries have been celebrating Henry David Thoreau all year in commemoration of his 200th birthday this year. As part of the celebration we will have a cake in the library from 12:00-2:00 on his birthday, July 12th. Please stop by for a piece and to share in the fun. 

Road Work on Friday 6/23

Please note that the town is paving the road in front of the library today, Friday, June 23rd. Our parking lot may be inaccessible for part of the day. Please use the community parking lot behind Buckies Biscotti and walk over. You may also call us to renew your items if you are not able to make it into the library today. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Bayberry Quilters Raffle Quilts on Display

The Bayberry Quilters are displaying two beautiful quilts that will be first place prizes at their 36th annual quilt show entitled “Our Lucky Stars” at the Cape Cod Technical Regional High School in Harwich, MA, on August 3, 4, and 5, 2017.

The quilts are on display and tickets will be sold at the library ON SATURDAY, JULY 8th ONLY, $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Ticket buyers can choose their top prize preference of the “Starlight,” (bed quilt, 94” x 94”) or the “Fabricadabra,” (art quilt, 37” x 48”). Second prize is a “Huge Variety Basket of Cape Cod Treasures.”

Proceeds go to fund scholarships and toolships for Cape Cod Regional Technical High School students.

Tech-savvy Volunteers Wanted

Do you love technology and have time on your hands? We need you! The Friends of the Dennis Public Library and the Dennis Public Library are looking for tech-savvy volunteers.

The Friends of the Dennis Public Library are looking for a volunteer to help them with social media like Constant Contact, Facebook, and Twitter, as well as graphic design needs that might arise.

Dennis Public Library needs a volunteer starting in the fall to help facilitate our "Girls Who Code" Club. "Girls Who Code" is a club for middle and high school students that meets weekly during the school year.

Documentary~ Sense the Wind: Blind sailors race across open water

On Saturday, June 24, at 12:30, we will host a special screening of the documentary Sense the Wind: Blind sailors race across open water. The hour-long documentary will be followed by a discussion with NY based filmmaker, Christine Knowlton.


Six years in the making, Sense the Wind, follows the journey of four blind sailors as they train and compete in national and international regattas and navigate the rest of life. It has played at film festivals around the globe. Christine Knowlton was honored with a Humanitarian Award at the 2016 Socially Relevant Film Festival NY for this film.


Admission is free. All ages are welcome. The film will be shown with subtitles if desired.

The library has two new museum passes this season! We now offer discount passes to the Toad Hall Classic Sports Car Museum and Plimoth Plantation.

Toad Hall is a fun museum located in Hyannis of over 50 red classic sports cars. Our pass gets you 50% off admission for two adults and two children.

Our Plimoth Plantation pass gets you reduced admission for any combination of six tickets for adults and/or children. Adults can get in for a reduced price of $16 and kids for $10.
