Library Updates

On February 4, 2020 the Dennis Public Library will reopen to serve patrons. Repairs to areas damaged by water on January 20, 2020 have been completed. The Children’s Room and the Benjamin and Ruth Muse Meeting Room sustained damage in an earlier event on November 8, 2019, and will remain closed until carpet is delivered later this month.

The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program that is normally offered at this time of year in the Meeting Room has been relocated to the Dennis Union Church at 713 Main Street (Route 6A), Dennis, MA, through the month of February. Please call Susan Reilly at the Dennis Senior Center to arrange an appointment for tax preparation assistance: 508-385-5067. Voting on March 3, 2020, for Precinct #3 will still take place at Dennis Public Library.

The Dennis Public Library has a professional reference librarian on staff, and our reference department offers many services and tools to patrons doing research and homework. If you have a question, we will do our best to help you answer it!

DPL has access to a variety of databases for research and learning in specific areas.

Massachusetts Access to Gale Reference Databases - The comprehensive collection of research databases offered by the Massachusetts Library System, including Biography in Context, Health and Wellness Resource Center, Business Insights, general reference databases, and more.

Encyclopedia Britannica Public Library Edition - The Public Library Edition is for general use, and has a link to the Kid's Edition. To see the other Encyclopedia Britannica editions available, including Spanish, click here.

AtoZ World Food - Explore food culture and traditional recipes from around the world. Includes recipes from 174 countries. Available at all Dennis libraries and at home with a Dennis library card. Please see a staff member if you need assistance logging in.

Ancestry Library Edition - Start exploring your roots.  Anyone can come into the library to dig into Ancestry Library Edition’s millions of records – as far back as the 1400s. This resource is only available on the library computers. Get started by clicking the leaf icon on any library computer desktop. 

Mango Languages - Learn a new language using the Mango app or website. A valid Dennis library card is required.
