
This year the author released her well-received novel The Lane: A Young Woman’s Tale in the Heart of Dublin. The story is set in Ireland during the 1950s. A young woman Kate finds herself pregnant in a society where women occupied secondary status, a position cemented by the ever-present and important Catholic church. Kate is left to do the best she can for herself and her child. Book critic Michael Lee says, “You might have read certain versions of this story, but you haven’t read her version.
