Avian Architecture

Saturday, January 19 at 11:00 am

Come join Ian Ives, Director of the Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary, as he leads our audience in a discussion about the nests that birds build. He'll answer such questions as how does a bird build a nest with just a beak for a tool? How many trips does it take to construct a safe space for eggs and nestlings? He'll show our audience some of the ingenious and intricate designs created by birds around the world and then examine real Cape Cod nests. You will be amazed at the diversity of architecture of these avian homes!
