Horseshoe Crab Encounters

Saturday, September 8 at 11:00 am

Join Jodie Limon Montoya, Education Coordinator from the Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary, as she introduces our audience to horseshoe crabs. Horseshoe crabs journey to the bays, coves, and tidal flats of Cape Cod to spawn and lay clusters of eggs. Many locals recall the bay bottom covered by a carpet of these armored arthropods so dense that there wasn’t space for a single footstep. Examine horseshoe crab molts and learn about their amazing anatomy, life cycle, and adaptations, and discover the challenges facing these ancient creatures today.
