Friends of the DPL 2008 Friday Authors Series is under way. Next event: Friday, September 26 at 2 pm, Marc Songhini, author of The Lost Fleet, the true story of sailing captain Thomas Williams and his wife. Good Reads up-to-date information on books and authors from BookLetters. Sign up for email newsletters or just browse. Funds provided by the Friends of the Dennis Public Library. Computer instruction classes are available or just ask for a demonstration.

We are at the intersection of Hall Street and Edwards Avenue, off Route 28 in Dennisport. Look for the "Dennisport Village Green" sign on Route 28. (From Route 6, Mid-Cape Highway: take Exit 9 South, Route 134 south. Proceed to the intersection of Route 28. Make a left turn onto Route 28, proceed for approximately 1.2 miles to the village of Dennisport and bear right at Hall Street. (You will see the Dennisport Natural Food store on your left.) Make an immediate right onto Edwards Street and proceed to the parking lot at the end of the building. SEE A MAP

Library Features:

  • Large meeting room equipped with a sound system, video/computer LCD projector, loop for the hearing impaired with headphones, and fully equipped kitchen. Available free of charge for registered 501(c)(3) community nonprofit organizations. All others pay $25 an hour. Call to schedule.
  • 6 public Internet computers, with training software and weekly free lessons on Wednesday at 11. Preregistration required.
  • Information Services librarian on duty during open hours.
  • Weekly storytimes and crafts for moms and babies and preschool children
  • Headquarters of the Cape Cod Genealogical Society, free volunteer help every weekday
  • First Wednesday Film Series--a recent award winning Independent International film--First Wednesday monthly at 3 PM
  • Free English class every Tuesday at 6:30 with Bill Maloney (English for speakers of other languages)
  • Book Club meets monthly on the third Wednesday at 1:00. All are welcome to attend.
  • Friends of the Dennis Public Library sponsors many activities and welcomes your membership. The 2007 Authors Program was a great success, with over 70 people at each author event. 2008 schedule will be even better, with fascinating authors and talks. Download the full schedule here.
  • Ongoing book sale in the newspaper area sponsored by the Friends, plus special book sales. Gently used book donations are welcome at any time.
  • Cape Cod Salties fishing library donated in 2007.
  • Lion's Club collection boxes in the lobby to donate eyeglasses,hearing aids or cell phones.
