Aside from offering books, research tools, audio, and video materials for patrons, the Dennis Public Library offers several other services for school, work, and leisure activities.
Museum Passes
The library has a number of passes that offer free or discounted admision to local (and not so local) museums, attractions, and parks. New this year is the Plimoth Plantation pass which offers a generous admission discount for individuals and families - we expect this to be a popular pass, so reserve early! Also new is the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum pass. And did you know that there is a pass which allows free parking at Mass State Parks that have a parking fee? Click the link above to see our list of passes, and call the library to reserve or get more info.
Public Access Computers
The library has nine public access computers in the adult and young adult area. The computers provide internet access, word processing and other office programs (either MS Office or Open Office), access to the reference databases and CLAMS catalog, and computer use tutorials and software. Six of these nine computers are brand new to provide patrons with the most efficient service available. The computers have a 30 minute time limit when people are waiting. There are three young adult (YA) designated computers which do not have a time limit when being used by students for homework.
Coming Soon! Word Processing Stations
Two computers have been added for word processing and other office functions. The stations are located in carrells near the public access computers which provide a more private setting for writing and homework. These computers are equipped with Open Office, a free, open-source program similar to MS Office; Open Office is able to open MS Office documents and save in MS Office formats to ensure cross-compatibility. These computers are designed for people who need to type documents or create projects - please note that they do not have a time-limit, and they are not connected to the internet.
Printing
All public access and word processing stations are able to print in black and white (laser quality). Printed pages are 20 cents per page.
Copying
The library is equiped with a photocopier, and copies are 20 cents per page.
Meeting Room
The library has a 50-person-capacity meeting room with state-of-the-art video projection (DVD, video, or computer feed) and T-switch (hearing aid) audio capabilities. The meeting room is available to non-profit groups free of charge, and can be rented by for-profit groups. For the meeting room policy and to reserve the room, please visit the circulation desk.
